Track your progress in a journal. Make sure you check your weight only once a week. If you do it more often, you may find yourself becoming anxious when you think you aren’t reaching your goals. Use a food journal to track all of your meals, snacks, beverages and the calories they contain. It is imperative to not leave out drinks and snacks! Writing down what you eat can help you make better food choices.


When you allow yourself to get very hungry, you will be far more likely to make poor choices. You may end up eating whatever is on hand rather than making a more healthful choice. You can avoid these complications by planning ahead and bringing those foods with you for your meals. Pack your lunch based off of your plan, instead of dining out. You will save money by bringing your own food, and the food you make will be healthier than what you can get from restaurants and fast food places.


Eating right and keeping up to your regular exercise regimen is the best way to lose weight. Exercising at least 3 times a week is great, while exercising every day is not essential. Make sure to avoid letting your workout routine get stale by constantly mixing things up and adding new exercises. Join a dance club or class, for example, if you already enjoy dancing.


Ditch the junk food if you want to avoid it. Remove the temptation by either putting it away and out of sight, or just not buying it in the first place. Surrounding yourself with healthier food will encourage you to eat more of it.


You cannot lose weight because your doctor says you should or your husband wants you to do it. You have to decide you are going to lose weight because you want to do it for yourself. It is important to tell your friends and family about your goals. You will find your journey much easier. You will experience times that will make you feel exhausted or unmotivated. When temptation calls, call on the help of your friends and family to offer much-needed support.
