Keep a record of your weight loss every week. Write your weekly weight down in a journal. Use this book to keep track of the food you eat. Record everything you eat on a daily basis to hold yourself responsible for what you eat. Knowing that you have to write down bad choices will make you less likely to actually choose them.


You should avoid making last minute decisions about food. If you wait until you’re excessively hungry, you’re more likely to make unhealthy eating choices, to eat impulsively, or to overeat. The best way to avoid this is to make food decisions ahead of time by planning what you are going to eat and to have healthy snacks available. Don’t go out to eat. Pack your meal and bring it with you. This will help you with two very worthwhile goals – losing weight and saving money!


A healthy weight loss plan requires both modest exercise and a nutritional diet. To achieve steady weight loss, both diet and exercise are key. It is a good idea to become involved in activities that give you a workout but are also enjoyable. When you find it too hard to get started when you work out, try to find someone to take walks with. Have a family bike riding or hiking trip. You won’t even think about the fact that you’re exercising!


This is always the first bit of advice in a weight loss program, yet very few people follow it. Remove any trace of fatty foods, sugary treats and high calorie snacks from your cupboards and fridge. If your cupboards are clean of tempting foods, then you are much more likely to reach for any healthy snacks you have on hand. Use healthy alternatives like fresh fruit and vegetables. If you keep the bad choices out of sight, you will be more likely to make good choices.


Get a buddy to workout with. It is easier to skip a day for a flimsy reason when we have no one else to answer to but ourselves. If you have a partner, you will be more motivated to complete your workout, even if you are starting to tire. You an rely on each other for emotional support, motivation and ideas to make your weight loss more successful.
