Losing weight and keeping it off can seem like an unattainable goal. Good intentions aren’t always enough to overcome the frustration of those sore muscles from your first workouts. How do you determine the key to successful weight loss?
The first thing you need to do is decide what goals are attainable and important for you in your weight loss journey. Keeping a realistic mindset when thinking about how you are going to lose weight is key to being successful. Do you have a target weight in the back of your mind? Is your goal to feel more refreshed and regain lost energy, or is your health the motivating factor? These inquiries are the ones you must answer to find out your goals.
Keep track of your weight loss each week. You can do this by weighing in every week. It’s also helpful to keep a daily food journal. Keeping a record of what we eat and drink make us more likely to stay on track and not cheat.
Allowing yourself to become too hungry will lead to bad food choices. Do not let this happen to you. Spend a day planning and preparing your meals for the entire week. When you are going to be out of your home, take your snacks with you. When you can’t be home, pack a lunch. This will slim your waistline and fatten your wallet.

If eating unhealthy foods requires the effort of leaving the house to buy them, you will choose the easier, more convenient option of eating the healthy foods already available.
Identify a workout buddy you can always call on to exercise with you. It is easier to skip a day for a flimsy reason when we have no one else to answer to but ourselves. You will be able to motivate each other. You will always have someone to turn to when you feel discouraged and exhausted by the sheer effort of weight loss.
