At times, it is hard to stay motivated. Although it started as a fun adventure, it can quickly become tedious and difficult to see the progress you have made. You see other people being successful in their drive and determination, and you wonder how you can get that for yourself. How are they achieving these great results and maintaining their fitness?
Choosing your fitness goal is step number one. Have you calculated how much weight you want to lose? What is your overall goal for weight loss? Is it your goal to slide into a new pair of jeans that are several sizes smaller, or just feel more svelte in the clothes you already wear? Is your goal to be in better shape or gain energy?
Keep a weight loss journal listing your progress. Check your weight only one time a week. If you weigh yourself multiple times a day, your anxiety levels will be high. Have a food diary that you can write in to keep count of your calorie and overall food intake. Snacks and beverages should be included as well. Simply writing down what you eat and drink can prevent you from making poor choices.
You are more likely to make bad choices when you are already hungry. During this time you are not thinking of what is healthy, you are just getting whatever food into your body that you can. Avoid this by having snacks on hand and make time for your meals. Take food with you when you leave the house, so you are not forced into unhealthy fast food. This will help you control your calorie intake, and save you money at the same time.
The weight loss systems with the highest success rates focus on both diet and exercise. Schedule fun work out activities a few times every week. Finding the exercises that you enjoy will help you push past those old excuses about not having enough time. Maybe you like chilling with your friends. Play some basketball with them! Do you enjoy dancing the night away? Learn some new moves in a dance class. Are you happiest when you are basking in the glories of nature? Go on a hike in the great outdoors or explore your local park.
This is always the first bit of advice in a weight loss program, yet very few people follow it. Throw away all the unhealthy snacks and junk food from your home! You will not be able to just reach for junk food when you crave it if you do not store any in your house. Instead of junk food, fill your refrigerator with healthy food, such as fruits and vegetables. All the things that are bad for you should be discarded. You will not crave them so much when you don’t see them.
Appeal to your friends. Tell them you need their support in your efforts to lose weight. While losing weight is only beneficial to you, it is important to have others help you in your weight loss goals, as they can provide essential motivation. Call your friends if you need a little motivation to keep going. They can help you while you are on your way to success.
